Crediting

Within the entry submission form, groups will be asked to submit a document (such as a google document) that lists all of the necessary credits for outsourced resources used within your entry. This includes elements such as: pre-rendered particle overlays, overlays, splash animations, transitions, pngs, general images, and animation templates. Furthermore, we ask that if your group heavily referenced something (such as an image) to create art for your entry that you also include this within your credits document. To put it simply, if you did not make it, you should credit it! We ask that all participants exhibit integrity and honesty to just let us know about the stuff you didn't make. This makes it fair for those participating, as everyone will be following the same honesty, as well as fair to the original creators of the content you are using. If there are certain assets that were purchased legally and do not require credit to be used, that's okay! However, the Ascension staff cannot know about the individual licenses of all elements at all times, so we ask that you provide a brief description of the element and state that the license says it does not require credit to be used! Lastly, we do not require groups to list things such as fonts, plugins, or other built-in elements in programs. If we find that there are missing credits, we reserve the right to deduct one (1) point per missing credit not outlined in your credits document. Ascension will notify groups of deductions before the final scores for a stage are locked in, in order to allow groups the opportunity to dispute deductions. For example, if the Ascension staff perceive an element (like a transition animation) to be missing credit, but your team did in fact make that element, your team may dispute this deduction and provide evidence that your team did make it and the deduction may be removed.
